Skillfully, and with real-world examples, they showed their audience the 'ZURB-way' of tackling and addressing one of the most challenging dilemmas that many companies seem to be facing these days: the gap among Strategy, Design, and Development.
- Nilo SarrafBuilding prototypes for web sites and web apps is getting harder, and the need to have a working prototype to use and get feedback on is more critical than ever. In this talk we'll show you how to use Foundation, a new CSS/HTML/JS framework, to quickly prototype sites and web apps that work on any kind of device, at any resolutions, with a variety of capabilities and constraints. The key to success in the new online world is rapid prototyping and iteration, so come hear about a slick new way to get things done.
Great talk on the reasoning behind tradeoffs across platforms.
- @dandenneyIn this talk, we'll dive deep into the psychology of web users and show powerful examples to help illustrate how marketers can think beyond a single landing page and earn powerful bumps in sales through conversion actions. Bryan's experience with dozens of the world's most transformative startups has given him unique insight into how users behave on the web and what drives lifecycles of customer success.
The presentation I'm watching right now is going to get printed out and taped on my door at work. is killing it right now #mozcon
- @iPullRankLove Javascript and want to learn more about interaction design? ZURB, the company who has helped Netflix, Salesforce, Facebook and others, will be giving a talk about how to excel at interaction design for those engineers who love Javascript. In addition, we will be having a hackathon part where you can meet other javascript engineers and get expert advice on how to excel in interaction design with javascript.
This was a great Meetup. I learned a simple method to prototype new sites. Also I learned about ZURB Foundation. Matt gives an excellent preso.
- Dan BikleHow many product ideas never make it to market? Why does this happen so often? ZURB doesn't believe it's because of bad ideas. We believe what's missing is a holistic approach to design for people, inside and outside the organization. In this talk we take a practical look at the design process and techniques everyone should know, including:
This people-centered, holistic approach to design makes Apple and other innovative companies what they are today. It has helped our 150+ clients create more than a billion dollars in market cap.

- Nilo SarrafLearning interaction design is like learning to dance. It's all about communication. And the only way you get better is practice, with a lot of different partners. In dancing and design, experience cannot be measured in years, but rather how much deliberate practice you commit yourself to in those years. It's going to be painful, but you are going to get better. Dancing by yourself is fun, but to everyone else, you just look silly.
great stuff from all the speakers today (Matt, Bill and Paul Irish) stuff was just cutting edge and totally inspiring!
- Suyash JoshiIn this session, we'll discuss the process and surprising results of our new approach.
When it came to building our annotation service, we wanted to be opportunistic and exploit new ways to earn relationships with people. This led us to a no-holds-barred approach to design and development that embraced marketing. We decided to give the team greater freedom to operate. We started fresh without the burden of existing code to work around and without existing customers to manage. We loosened up and challenged ourselves to dive deep and create novel solutions to known shortcomings in the design, interaction and code of Notable. This approach opened us up to a host of secondary benefits.
Perfect for a 20 min session. Good content and engaging presentation.
- Michael KrupitMake your users happy by building webapps without page loads. People waiting 2,000ms or more for a page on your app to load are losing interest and focus. Learn how to create an interface that responds in less then 100ms with Backbone.js, a JavaScript library created to keep large amounts of JavaScript organized and reusable. Examples from real applications will be used to demonstrate how pageless apps can be used to implement great interactions and make people happy. Both implementation and design decisions will be discussed.
The bulk of the presentation will be presenting Backbone.js and walking through each of the steps to create a pageless app using Backbone.js and Rails. With each step the design and interaction decisions will be explained, and what not to do with pageless apps will be illustrated.
Matt Kelly should be a keynote speaker. Not just informative presentation, but fun, too. Can we give more than 5 stars?
- Teddy CaddyApplying basic design tools like sketching, design before implementation, and interaction grids will ensure your users cry with joy, rather then cringe with disgust.
In this talk we show you how to design super awesome interactions for jQuery and jQuery UI. Implementation details and design decisions behind Notableapp.com, Verifyapp.com, and Bounceapp.com will be shared to demonstrate how these design principles are applied to real sites.
Matt Kelly gives one of the sickest talks on "Super Awesome Interactions" from jQuery Conf Boston. Must see!
