ZURB (www.zurb.com/talent) is looking for a Design Manager to lead our design interaction and strategy team. We need someone with a strong grasp of business concepts who can stay on top of managing multiple Design Leads while ensuring our entire team runs as efficiently as possible. Management experience is a must, and a thorough knowledge of design strategy, tactics and implementation is necessary. Our ideal manager will love playing with technology, know some XHTML and enjoy coaching people.

The position will entail managing the time of our team, ensuring the win for our clients and directing the use of our methods and processes. Our approach to problems uses design thinking and a great Design Manager will understand the differences between that and critical thinking.

We’re a close-knit team that helps companies design better websites, services, and products online. We’ve been around over 10 years and have over 75 start-ups in our client roster. Our clients range from large, well-known companies that we’ve helped for years (e.g., Photobucket, Zazzle, Playlist.com, the New York Stock Exchange) to brand-new start-ups just finding their feet (Qik, TinyPic). They all came to us based on our reputation of delivering killer ideas that work.

What skills do we need?

As a Design Manager, here are some of the skills you'll need to have:

• Proven Leadership – experience managing projects, deadlines, etc.
• Client Interaction – comfort level presenting your work to clients and working off of feedback
• Business Logic – understanding business goals and user needs to effectively craft designs that make these things sing, we need someone with major business chops
• Words - clear explanations, compelling writing, and the occasional clever or funny e-mail
• Organization - ability to manage multiple projects and the designers working on them to insure the most efficient use of time.

You'll also need to have a good knowledge of at least one of the following:

• Visual Design - illustrations, icons, compelling visual elemens, etc.
• User Interface/Experience Design - wire-framing, weighting elements, boxes and arrows, flow, great common sense
• Front-End Development - XHTML/CSS/Javascript, web standards, frameworks like Prototype.js or MooTools would be cool. Experience integrating with Rails would be great.

This position is available immediately, pays competitively and is full-time. You'll be working in our offices in downtown Campbell, where we have parking spaces, a Wii and a good attitude.
