Why do we do this event?

Bryan and Jeremy were crazy enough to do this for the first time back in 2006. We had tried to help nonprofits before and learned that an inspiring mission was not enough if the organization operated in a wildly inefficient or disorganized manner. Marketing opportunities get stuck too easily, frustrating efforts to drive that mission forward. Design, teamwork and a 24-hour timebox turned out to be the trick for maximizing our impact on a nonprofit organization.

This event gives the ZURB team a chance to help a nonprofit get unstuck by giving back in the best way we know how--by helping them solve problems through our time and effort. We get to stretch and grow while sharing our unique skill set for designing things for people.

We find ZURBwired gives other nonprofits a framework for how to assemble goal-oriented teams to make more inspired business and marketing decisions and execute on them a vastly more efficient way. At the end it creates a tangible result in the forms of materials, tools and ideas to market their concept or event.

What ZURBwired is and is not

This is our fourth year running the ZURBwired event and something we plan to keep doing in the future. We have collaborated with an amazing bunch of people over the years. The fact that they are crazy enough to volunteer their time, expertise and efforts along with ours is incredibly motivating to our team.

The total donation of our time and effort, as well as that of our partners and volunteers exceed $30,000 each time we run this. We have helped our nonprofits participants raise over $100,000 across our first three events, something we're incredibly proud to say!

ZURBwired is both crazy and effective. The effort is not free, it takes hard work and dedication. Sure, we make a lot of stuff in those 24 hours, but the real impact we hear about lasts years and influences the optimism and approaches of the nonprofits long afterward!
