Web 1.0 Hall of Fame

We wanted to document the heroes and inspirations that still keep us honest and motivated to do what we do even today in the web version 2.0 (whatever that means). Email getstarted[at]zurb.com with your contributions.

Jakob Nielsen

Still a rock star and his site still has the concrete front yard. Look at it, http://www.useit.com. His book Homepage Usability is a reality check you'll come back to time and again and his papers like Participation Inequality about the 90%/9%/1% rule show he's still got vital things to offer designers on the web today.

Mr. Luke Wroblewski

No nonsense, hardcore, common sense usability. We love how Luke teaches the designer's craft, but still remains an enthusiastic student. Read his blog to learn profound things about design, interfaces and people using them.

Honorable mention

These folks are a great source of inspiration, but don't quite fit into the Web 1.0 club. Call them "advisors." We stand on their shoulders to do the great stuff we do today.

Edward Tufte

Edward hasn't quite made it onto the web yet, but the guy's lectures are outstanding resources on how use design to communicate information. Pick up one of his books and you'll learn something that'll help you be a better visual storyteller—guaranteed.
