"think verbs, not nouns"
-Bill Moggridge (by way of Tom Peter's
interview
with Tom Kelly)
I was discussing with a friend yesterday the power of ideas. When we
are open to sharing ideas they create opportunities that would otherwise not exist. An idea
is charged energy. As he put it, a lighting bolt. Society will gravitate towards ideas.
People, however, will also become uncomfortable. Ideas cause people to want more ideas.
Think of ideas as actions, not objects. Half of an idea is simply the presentation. How do
I connect with my audience? How do I convey an idea so that people will understand? Look at the
world through your audience. Ideas are powerful. Ideas that inspire are even more powerful. An
idea is a performance, so think about your audience, the stage, and other performers.
