Everyday more than 1 million mobile devices are put into consumers hands. Heavy mobile data users are projected to triple to 1 billion users by 2013 while mobile internet adoption has outpaced desktop internet adoption by eight times so far. What does this mean? It means two things:
- There a million opportunities to innovate
- You better design an intuitive, slick, and awesome mobile user experience if you want to succeed
This coming friday Peter Skillman the former VP of Design at Palm will get on his soapbox to show us the current issues in mobile user experience today and what we need to do to overcome them. He'll use real life examples from his 11 year career at Palm to illustrate:
- What's broken in mobile UX today
- How the right user interface can address these issues
- What we can expect in the future
About Peter: For seventeen years Peter has used creativity as fuel to create outstanding products and experiences. As the Engineering Manager at IDEO Peter worked on projects such as the redesign of a shopping cart which was later featured on ABC. In his 11 year tenure at Palm he led the Design and User Experience groups. As VP of Design Skillman focused on readying Palm's return to the smartphone market, the Palm Pre. The Pre was truly a superbly designed product which managed to wow consumers at the time when iPhone was leading the industry sector and Android was not on the market. Peter is very well known for his famous presentation of the Marshmallow Experiment in his TED talk a few years ago.
